Energy can be transferred from one object to another by doing work. When we say work is done, it means that force is applied to an object, and that force moves the object over a distance. The amount of work done equals the force applied multiplied by the distance the object moves.

When work is done on an object, its energy is changed by increasing or decreasing it. For example, when a hammer hits a nail, the work done by the hammer transfers energy to the nail, which causes the nail to move and get stuck in the material. In this case, the hammer loses some energy, and the nail gains some energy. This is just one example of how work can be used to transfer energy between objects.
